Generation Hope Goals 2026: Action for the SDGs

ree

Generation Hope Goals is a collaborative initiative by Save the Children (SC), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia and the Pacific (UNFCCC RCC AP), and ChildFund. The initiative's goal is to engage children and young people in creating innovative climate action solutions that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under review at the 13th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD). The solutions should address one or more of the following SDGs: clean water and sanitation (SDG 6); affordable and clean energy (SDG 7); industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9); and sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11).

As an associated event of the 13th APFSD, Generation Hope Goals 2025-2026 will provide a platform for children and young people to showcase their climate action solutions, promote creative and practical approaches to climate and sustainability challenges, and facilitate partnerships among various stakeholders. This opportunity is open to children and young people between the ages of 14 and 24 from existing groups, networks, or organizations in the Asia and the Pacific Region.

The event will unfold in stages to ensure comprehensive engagement and support for participants and the climate solutions will be scored using criteria such as: uniqueness, feasibility, scalability, and relevance and social impact.

  • Stage 1: Application Submission: Applications will be submitted online by September 24, 2025. The solutions submitted must be at a prototype stage at a minimum.  Apply here.

  • Stage 2: Sub-regional Selection: From the applications, 25 projects will be shortlisted who will then present their solutions online to a panel of judges and create a one-minute video for public voting which will contribute to their total score.

  • Stage 3: Regional Judging (Finals): The top five finalists will be announced in early November 2025. Finalists will receive mentorship, pitch refinement workshops, and networking opportunities in preparation for the final event.

  • Final Event: The finalists will present their solutions at the 13th APFSD in Bangkok, Thailand, held tentatively between February 24-27, 2026

Application deadline: September 24, 2025 11:59 p.m. (GMT+7 Bangkok time)
